Juan Manuel Ramírez Cirera specialises in arbitration and international contracts. He has been involved in a variety of arbitration proceedings administered by the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, CIMA, and CAS, involving matters such as construction, sale of goods, services, transport, corporate disputes, energy, and sports. Juan Manuel completed his PhD at Carlos III University of Madrid (2022–2025, Cum Laude by unanimity of the tribunal) with a thesis on the uniform law of EPC contracts, building on the CISG, under the supervision of Prof. Pilar Perales Viscasillas. He was awarded the highly competitive nationwide FPU grant funded by the Government of Spain and also received public funding to undertake three-month research stays at both the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL, Vienna, 2023) and the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT, Rome, 2024). During his years at Carlos III University, Juan Manuel taught commercial contracts to final-year undergraduate students (2023–2026) and coordinated the Master in International Advocacy (2025–2026), including its courses on commercial arbitration and investment arbitration. Since 2022, he has been coaching the UC3M Vis Moot team and coordinating Moot Madrid, the most prestigious international commercial arbitration competition in the Spanish-speaking world. Previously, he worked at a leading law firm in Madrid, Uría Menéndez (2021–2022). During his time at the firm, he was part of the international arbitration (commercial and investment-related) and litigation practice. He also collaborated with the transport practice, advising international clients on contractual, regulatory, and corporate matters, including M&A transactions.
